Celebrate Summer!

We don’t generally associate summer as a time for settling down to read. However, along with the water, sand, an umbrella for shade and a cool drink — a good book is a nice fit. It really doesn’t matter whether you are watching the tide roll in or dodging hummingbirds on the patio, sitting back with a good read is a good idea, and we have one for you.
The back-story for our recommendation began with the opportunity and pleasure of meeting and hearing Pulitzer Prize winning author Rick Bragg. For the fourth time, FoxTale Book Shoppe has hosted the author. This time, he would be signing his latest book, The Best Cook in The World… Tales from my Momma’s Table then speak to a packed house at the Elm Street Arts Center. Having seen him before, we knew he would delight his audience with his anecdotes and quick wit. He did not disappoint. Read more in the following pages.
Also, in this issue, you will be the first to read who has been chosen as the Top Ten Young Professionals to Watch during the next 10 years. These local professionals chosen are residents of Cherokee County who have exhibited exceptional qualities and abilities that add value and talent to our community. If you get a chance to speak with one of those special people, take time to congratulate them on their accomplishments.
So sit down and relax. Read the articles, try the recipes, and mark your calendar for upcoming events in Cherokee County. Don’t miss anything, and celebrate summer before it gives way to fall. Enjoy!
